Operation |
Taking into account the features of its network, ESCOTA has developed expertise in the management and operation of heavy traffic motorways with several engineering structures (tunnels and viaducts).
It is particularly involved in optimising customer service - traffic is managed in real time by personnel from the intervention and surveillance department, or by cameras. The information gathered is broadcast to customers on Radio Trafic FM and the Variable Message Panels. In the Alpes-Maritimes, journey times are displayed on the Variable Message Panels, except if an event occurs.
Continuous improvement of the infrastructure, 24-hour surveillance of the network by the intervention teams and PC operators, computerised traffic management systems, information systems in real time; the safety of customers and employees is an absolute priority.

Sustainable development |
ESCOTA is firmly committed to sustainable development. Its objective is to take into consideration the social, economic and environmental aspects of its activity. To find out more about company projects on this subject, you can order the "Group Sustainable Development 2003" report (from the News page).
Maintenance of the motorway network does not solely concern the road surface and its surroundings. For 459 km of road, ESCOTA manages over 1,600 hectares of roadside green areas. Prevention of fires and water pollution but also the protection of residents against noise or the protection of rare natural species are also part of the management of the motorway green areas. Every year, specific projects are undertaken or continued as part of the sustainable development strategy of the motorway network, which you can read about on the sustainable development page.
